Sailfish Spotlight: Cody Shoaf

After earning his degree in IT Management from Western Governors University, Sailfish employee Cody Shoaf followed his interest and passion to the Space Coast area of Florida to try to land a job in Aerospace and more specifically composites.  He admits, it might be a complete departure from his education, but one he truly loves, finds passion and has a deep interest in.  During his search, he took a chance, following a childhood passion, boating, and went to work at Boston Whaler.  Followed by work at Twin Vee and Pursuit before coming to Sailfish.  In each case honing his skills and advancing his knowledge in FRP / lamination side of the industry.   

After a short stint at General Dynamics Land Systems, as Supervisor of the wire prep department Cody wanted to get back into a field and role he had a personal connection to where he could put himself into.  Cody joined Sailfish Boats, 6-weeks ago as a Lamination Lead supporting that team of boatbuilders.

Cody defines quality as putting the customer first.  His expectations are high, so he wants to make sure every boat that leaves Cairo, is at that level or better.  He does not want you to find a blemish, not to have something not work, to wonder.  Cody expects you to be happy and proud of your boat.  That is quality to Cody and for everyone at Sailfish.  

Although only at Sailfish for 6-weeks, he really likes the closeness and tightknit nature of the company.  Cody feels at home and believes in the mission and ethos of the company, building an affordable luxury, high quality fishing boat for everyone.  As a side note, Cody too likes he has close family ties to the area with a number of ancestors buried at a cemetery about 3-miles from work from 1866.

We are very happy to have Cody at Sailfish and look forward to applying his skill set, knowledge and experience to making Sailfish Boats boats even better.
